How to Mount Needlework by the Lace Method

    • 1). Complete your needlework, leaving at least 1 inch on all sides. Turn the fabric face down and center the foam board on the back.

    • 2). Fold the top and the bottom of the fabric toward one another. Thread the needle and tie a knot in the end of the thread. Push the needle through the back of the fabric, near the corner.

    • 3). Pull the needle straight across to the opposite side and push it through the fabric. Create a backstitch by moving the needle about 1/2 inch back toward the edge of the board and push it through the back of the fabric.

    • 4). Pull the needle across to the opposite side and repeat. Continue until the entire back is laced. Pull the laces taut and knot.

    • 5). Fold the sides of the fabric toward one another and repeat the process vertically.
