Wash the ice cube tray with hot water and dish soap. Rinse well and allow it to air dry. Smell the tray to see if the odor is still there. This probably won’t be enough to remove the odor, but it’s a good start.

Fill a sink with equal parts white vinegar and hot water and drop the smell ice cube trays into it. Allow it to soak for at least an hour before pulling them out, rinsing them off and letting them air dry.

Set your ice cube trays outside in the sunshine for 3 to 4 hours. Sunlight is a great natural odor killer.

Wrap the ice cube trays in newspaper and set them in a cool dry place for at least 24 hours. Newspaper is quite effective at absorbing odors.

Dampen a clean cloth or sponge and dip it in baking soda. Scrub the ice cube tray with the cloth and rinse it well before leaving it to air dry.
