Remove the plates while they are still warm because this is the best time to clean them. Use oven mitts for this because they are very hot.

Run water over the plates. Stand back because the steam can burn you. You are just rinsing off the grease before it solidifies.

Use the plastic spatulas that come with the George Foreman grill to clean and scrape away the crunchy or stuck-on material. Don't use metal to scrape it off because you can remove the non-stick coating.

Scrub the George Foreman grill plates with soap, soft sponge and warm water. Wait until the grill plates are cool before you do this step.

Put the George Foreman grill plates in the dishwasher if you don't feel like scrubbing them. Do this when they are cool so you don't burn yourself or melt parts of the dishwasher. You can also put the grill plates in the dishwasher after scrubbing them to sanitize them.
