Kid's Room Decorating Ideas With Trains

    Murals

    • If you want to go all out, paint a mural on the wall, which could simply include a train that wraps around the room or it could involve a more complete scene with trees, hills and tunnels. If you're not artistic, you could project the image on the wall to draw the outline and simply paint it in. Alternatively, purchase easy-to-use wall decals, which can peel off when your child tires of the theme.

    Train Bed

    • Purchase a bed in the shape of a train engine to make her feel like she's really in a train. You can find these in both toddler size and full-size beds. If you find the cost daunting, look for used beds online or at garage sales. Since children grow out of their themed rooms so quickly, you'll frequently find a parent trying to sell a train bed.

    Train Storage

    • Most young children find keeping their rooms neat and organized difficult. Cleaning up becomes enjoyable, however, when they are putting their toys away in their very own "train." Purchase a train-shaped toybox for the front of the train, and connect other storage boxes to this one.

    Understated Train Rooms

    • Decorating with a train theme can give you a good starting point, but you don't have to incorporate the theme into every aspect of the room. Doing so can overpower the room and look tacky. Instead choose a few key items in the room -- the rug, pictures for the wall, a lamp or the curtains, for example -- that include the train theme, and use the colors of those items to decorate the rest of the room.
