What Really Causes Sunburn?

Sunburns are painful and sore.  As the skin heals and repairs itself, peeling may occur.  Along with the peeling comes itching.  During the whole process, the skin is dryer than usual, which caused even more itching.

In addition to all of the immediate symptoms, sunburn is believed to increase a person's risk of skin cancer.  This happens because of indirect damage to DNA with the skin's cells.  Ordinarily, the DNA damage is repaired.  If for some reason, the damage is not repaired properly, the cells can mutate and become cancerous.

What Are the Causes?

As most people know, most of these kinds of burns are caused by overexposure to the sun.  The amount of time a person can spend in the sun varies depending on their skin color or pigmentation.  Some people can only spend a small amount of time in the sun.  Others can spend longer, but even people with very dark skin will burn at some point.

It is UV radiation that actually causes burning.  The same type of burn can occur due to exposure to welding arcs, the lamps used in tanning beds and exposure to UV germicidal irradiation.

How to Treat Sunburn

Ideally, you would want a solution that would treat the symptoms and assist the body with DNA repair.  There are lotions on the market that contain the necessary ingredients to accomplish that.  They are typically marketed as anti-aging creams, because the same type of DNA damage that causes skin cancer can also cause wrinkles and other visible signs of aging.

You want anti-aging body lotion for burns on the body and an anti-aging facial cream for burns on the face.  The facial cream I recommend is called Whitening Day Cream.

Why the Whitening Day Cream Works

The Whitening Day Cream works because it contains antioxidants and other nutrients that will help the body repair DNA damage.  The nutrients will also promote skin healing and growth.  When sunburns occur, living cells die and new cells are produced to take their place.  Using a cream that stimulates skin growth will help the burn heal faster.

The Whitening Day cream also contains ingredients that reduce irritation and inhibit melanin production.  The melanin inhibitor (a nut grass extract) will reduce the risk that your facial skin will appear tanned after the burn heals.  If you want to tan, you can use the Age Defense Day Cream or the Men's Facial Fluid instead.

What are the Benefits of the Whitening Day Cream?

The Whitening Day Cream can be used on a regular basis or just until the bottle is empty.  If used on a regular basis, the benefits include:

·               Younger looking skin, because of the antioxidants and other nutrients

·               Lighter skin, because of the nut grass extract

·               More even pigmentation…reduced age spots, because of nut grass extract

·               Immediate relief from the symptoms of sunburn, because of the nourishing oils and the anti-irritant activity of nut grass extract

·               Reduced dryness, because of the nourishing oils and an ingredient called Functional Keratin

How to Prevent Future Sunburns; Reduce Skin Aging & Your Risk of Skin Cancer

Research has shown that chemical sunscreens may provide protection against sunburn, but they do not necessarily provide protection against the DNA damage that causes skin aging and cancer.  In fact, some sunscreens have been tested in the laboratory and shown to cause DNA damage.

Wearing protective clothing is the best way to prevent sunburn on the body.  Some sun exposure is good for your health (unless you are allergic), because you body converts UV rays into natural vitamin D.  When a sunscreen is needed, the safest and most effective is zinc oxide.

To protect your face, you can wear a hat with a wide brim and/or use a zinc oxide sunscreen.  However, some sun exposure is likely to occur.

Using Whitening Day Cream, the Age Defense Day Cream or the Men's Facial fluid will protect against skin aging and may reduce your risk of skin cancer, because of the antioxidant activity.

Sunburn does not always cause skin cancer.  It does increase your risk of the less serious kinds.  Your body can repair the damage if it has the right tools.  Antioxidants and other nutrients are the tools it needs to do the repairs.
