- 1). Obtain training from vocational schools or colleges pertaining to food production, administration and management, customer and personal service, sales and marketing, transportation of goods, and interpersonal communication.
- 2). Volunteer your time and sign up for informal training with experienced fruit brokers while you are in school.
- 3). Work in adjacent fields in the agricultural sciences in order to get a breadth of experience that can enable you to identify crop characteristics, resolve agricultural production problems, negotiate contracts with suppliers and apply advanced business math.
- 4). Apply for positions with merchant wholesalers for nondurable goods after you have completed your training and have one to three years of relevant experience.
