- 1). Pull your old tax forms up if you submitted them online. Your W-2 records should still be available in this format, though they may not be accepted by a bank or court.
- 2). Speak with the person or company that prepared your taxes if you used a third party. These services should keep copies of important documents related to your taxes and can get you a copy of an old W-2.
- 3). Download "Form 4506: Request for Copy of Tax Return" via the link provided in resources, print it, and fill it out.
- 4). Follow the instructions on page 2 of "Form 4506: Request for Copy of Tax Return" to fill out your check for $57 (as of 2010) and send the form to the correct location. The mailing address is specific to the state in which you filed; you can find the correct location by reading page 2 of form 4506. You will need to wait up to two months to receive your old W-2 via mail.
