How to Restore a Contacts List With Activesync

    Backup

    • 1). Install ActiveSync on your desktop. ActiveSync can be downloaded by directing your internet browser to Microsoft.com. Move your mouse to "Downloads & Trials," click "Windows Mobile Downloads" from the drop-down menu and choose "Microsoft ActiveSync" on the new screen.

    • 2). Connect your smartphone to the computer using the USB cable. Open the ActiveSync application on the desktop computer by clicking the desktop icon or by finding it in the "Start" menu under "Programs."

    • 3). Backup your data by clicking "Backup & Restore" in the "Tools" menu. Click the "Backup" tab and choose to do either a full or incremental backup. If this is your first time using ActiveSync, select "Incremental Backup"; if you have changed or added contacts since your last backup, select "Full Backup." Click the button that says "Backup Now." This will create a backup of all the files from your smartphone, including the contacts list, on the desktop computer.

    • 4). Disconnect the smartphone from the computer after the backup has been completed. Don't exit ActiveSync until the smartphone has been disconnected.

    Restore

    • 1). Restore your contacts list by connecting your smartphone to the computer using the USB cable and opening the ActiveSync application.

    • 2). Click "Backup & Restore," then "Restore Now." A dialog box with a list of all of your backup files will appear. Choose the backup file that contains your contacts list and click "OK." When the warning message appears, click "Restore" to complete the process.

    • 3). Wait for the restore to complete. This usually takes several minutes. After the restore has completed, you will have you contacts list fully transferred to your smartphone.

    • 4). Disconnect your smartphone after the restore is completed. Press the reset button to activate the changes made in the restore.
