Large desert shrubs are ideal for landscape decor and privacy. These shrubs grow well in desert climates of the Southwest. Many desert shrubs are low-maintenance and do not need daily watering. Some desert shrubs produce flowers and lovely green foliage. - The chuparosa is a large desert shrub that can grow up to 8 feet tall and 12 feet wide. This shrub produces thick green foliage and blooms orange flowers in March that do not drop until the fall. This plant attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. The chuparosa needs full sun and minimal shade, making it ideal for walkways or backyard privacy shrubs.

You will most likely notice this shrub along major highways across the desert. This plant produces silvery-green foliage and clusters of cream and yellow flowers in the spring.

This shrub is easy to care for and only requires pruning. The California snake brush absorbs all its water from rain throughout the year.
- The four-wing saltbush is a desert shrub that produces green paper-like foliage and yellow flowers in the spring. This shrub grows an average of 8 feet tall, but it can also grow up to 15 feet tall. The four-wing saltbush prefers sandy soils and requires very minimal watering. Light pruning keeps the shrub under control.
