- 1). Apply to the state you are getting the information from. Most of them won't have Internet search providers but will give you a printed document. A fee may be applied for the service. Provide the state office with your identification and reason for the research. You might have to give them information of the person you are checking; for example, driver's license number, date of marriage or divorce, or date of birth.
- 2). Contact your state identification bureau. The FBI shares information with state and local governments that are looking to employ someone new, usually with high responsibilities.
- 3). Register an account on an online service. One could be People Records or Integral Scan. Through these services, you can obtain criminal background and information for a variable fee. You can also pay for an annual membership. These providers are not limited to employee searches but also can offer information on co-workers, roommates or nannies.
