Blogging is quickly becoming a increasingly popular trend and more and more people from celebrities to world renown news stations are implementing them to increase their readership, fan base and subscribers.
However there is a vast growing majority of individuals that are blogging to make money and some are successful while others are not.
In this article I'm going to lay out three mistakes that could be taking money out of your pocket instead of stuffing it full of cash.
Mistake #1.
Not topically focused.
While blogging is easy to do, if you want to make money with it you're going to have to make sure that your blog is focused on one specific subject.
When your blog is scattered with information relating to vastly different subjects it's very hard to develop a loyal readership.
Mistake #2.
Over monetization.
Another profit killer for your blog may be as a result of overloading your site with too many advertisements and not enough content.
If you're blog reads more like a giant advertisement without any real content to benefit your readers, you will experience a high bounce rate.
A high bounce rate means that the majority of people who are visiting your site are clicking the back button within the first 2 seconds without so much as a glance as to what your site has to offer.
Mistake #3.
Unrelated ads.
Closely related to over-monetization is the lack of relevancy of your advertising to your content.
If your blog is focused on German shepherd dog training and your ads are for Betta fish products, it's a safe bet that you won't see much income from your ads.
As silly as that sounds there are many blogs that are featuring ads that are totally unrelated to the content.
Get your blog focused with well positioned ads that are relevant to your content and watch your income skyrocket.
