Wartplex and Genital Warts

The onset of any kind of wart, especially a genital wart, can be an extremely frustrating time in one's life.
This is because genital warts in particular are formed as a result of having a sexually transmitted infection: HPV (Human Papillomavirus).
In fact, HPV is the most common STI in America.
While having this disease is not generally considered to be life-threatening, HPV has been shown to lead to the development of multiple types of cancers including Cervical Cancer.
While a healthy immune system will help combat HPV, it is also possible to use topical wart removers such as Wartplex to help remove external genital warts.
It is important to note that products like Wartplex are only meant to treat external skin lesions, internal warts must be treated by a doctor.
While genital warts are often considered to be the most serious type of wart, they are essentially treated the same way that regular warts are.
Essentially, the Salicylic Acid used in Wartplex burns off the wart from the top down.
Eventually the wart will dry up and fall off completely.
This usually takes a few weeks to happen.
It is also believed that the irritation caused by topical genital wart removers forces the immune system to kick-in and help get rid of the wart.
Safety Concerns As previously mentioned, the primary ingredient in Wartplex is Salicylic Acid.
This ingredient in particular has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of warts.
While the use of Salicylic Acid is safe to use on the skin, it should not be used internally, on open wounds, or on mucus membranes.
Furthermore, you may also want to consider purchasing wart band-aids which essentially protect the skin around the wart from damage.
These products look like circular band-aids but with a hole open in the middle in which you would apply Wartplex.
