- The Ford Fusion has been manufactured by the Ford Motor Company since model year 2006. It's a mid-size sedan that was awarded the Motor Trend Car of the Year award. The 2010 model year featured the Fusion in four different trim levels: the base S model, SE, SEL and Sport models.
- All 2010 Ford Fusion models, S, SE and SEL are equipped with a standard 2.5-liter I4 engine with 175 horsepower or an optional 3.0-liter V6 engine with 240 horsepower on the SE and SEL models. The Fusion Sport came with a standard 3.5-liter V6 engine with 263 horsepower. All models except the Sport came with a standard manual six-speed transmission, but many opted for the available six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive or the available six-speed Select Shift transmission available on the SEL and Sport models. It also comes standard with a 150-amp alternator and 500-amp battery that featured run-down protection to alert a driver if the battery voltage gets too low.
- The estimated fuel economy for the standard 2.5-liter engine was 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 MPG on the highway, and when equipped with the 3.0-liter engine, fuel economy was 18 miles per gallon in the city and 25 on the highway. The 3.5-liter engine that came standard on the Sport model received 17 miles in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. Overall fuel capacity for the Fusion Limited is 17.5 gallons.
- The Ford Fusion SEL and Sport models were manufactured with automatic full-time all-wheel drive standard. The S and SE models came with front-wheel drive only. The short and long arm-based front suspension system and gas-pressurized front and rear shocks were all standard on the Fusion. It also came equipped with a multi-link rear suspension with front and rear anti-roll bars. Also equipped on the Fusion Limited are coil front and rear springs, rack and pinion steering and anti-lock disc brakes. The S model came with 16-inch wheels silver alloy wheels. The SE was equipped with 17-inch steel wheels mean while the SEL had 17-inch machined alloy wheels. The bigger tires on the Sport model were 18-inch painted alloy. AdvanceTrac electronic stability control was also standard.
- The four-door Ford Fusion seats five and has 16.5 cubic feet of interior cargo volume. The exterior measures 190.6 inches long, 72.2 inches wide and stands 5.9 inches in height. The Fusion S and SE models weigh approximately 3,200 pounds, and the SEL and Sport models can weigh as much as 3,800 lbs. when equipped with all-wheel drive. The vehicle offers 42.3 inches of front legroom and 38.7 inches of rear legroom. The headroom measures 38.7 inches in the front and 37.8 inches in the rear. Hip room for passengers is 54 inches for the front and 53.3 inches for the rear, while the shoulder room measures 57.4 inches in the front and 56.5 inches in the back. The wheelbase is 107 inches in length, giving the Fusion an 18.7-inch turning radius.
- Driver and passenger airbags are standard on the 2010 Ford Fusion models. Seat-mounted driver and passenger side airbags, daytime running lights, curtain first and second row overhead airbags and side impacts beams were all standard safety features.
