How to Repair a Leak in a Swimming Pool Skimmer

    • 1). Turn off the pool pump.

    • 2). Remove the box that covers the skimmer.

    • 3). Add a few drops of red dye into the water near the skimmer box. If the colored water flows through the seam in the skimmer box, you have found your leak.

    • 4). Knead pool putty with your hands for a few minutes until it becomes pliable and easy to work with. Press the putty into the seam around the skimmer, and smooth it out with your fingers. Allow it to set for about half an hour.
