- 1). Put the fangs in place on your incisors (you don't have to glue them, just hold them in place). Mark the fangs with the permanent marker to indicate the length you want to cut them to; keep them dry as you do this, or the marker won't mark.
- 2). Cut a 3-inch by ½-inch strip of the soft leather using the craft knife.
- 3). Wrap the lower ½-inch of one of the fangs in the leather.
- 4). Close the vise grips. Screw open the teeth to be slightly wider than the base of the fang. Place the wrapped base of the fang inside the grips and tighten the screw to clamp down until the fang is securely gripped in place with the pointed top out, beyond the teeth of the tool; ideally, you should not be able to move the fang with your fingers.
- 5). Fit the rotary tool with the grinding bit according to the manufacturer's instructions. Turn on the tool and set the speed dial to 3 if the numbers range 1-10 and 10 if the numbers range 1-30.
- 6). Hold the vise grips, with the fang, in your secondary hand and the rotary tool in your primary hand. Move the spinning bit slowly over the tip of the fang, but with a smooth, continuous motion. Grind over the entire area of the exposed tip of the fang, but spend twice as much time moving over the portion you want removed. Continue until the fangs are reduced to the length you want.
- 7). Carefully touch the ground fang with your fingertip to make sure there are no especially sharp edges or points. If there are, grind these down with the rotary tool until they're smooth and rounded.
- 8). Remove the fang from the vise grips. Rub it with fine sand paper to smooth it. For best results, move the fang over the paper rather than visa-versa.
- 9). Repeat the gripping, grinding, and sanding with the second fang.
