If there is one thing that I cannot stand, it's cars that make way too much noise.
Whether it is an engine problem, squeaky brakes or loud music, cars that produce a lot of noise also produce a lot of frustration from those who have to tolerate it.
One summer, while I was growing up, we had these neighbors that moved into our neighborhood across the street from where I lived.
At first, they seemed like nice people until the summer rolled around.
A lot had happened during the first few months that these neighbors moved in, and as a result, the vast majority of those who lived on our block no longer spoke to these people.
The one thing about these neighbors, though, was the fact that they LOVED music.
And as soon as the warmer weather of summer rolled around, they started to play their music loud...
very loud.
Not only this, but they would play their music by blasting it out of the speakers of their cars It was both incredibly annoying and frustrating because often times, this wouldn't occur until after 9 pm at night! One day, when they were blasting their music out of their car (which they were washing), one of their next door neighbors (who was also outside) simply leaned over their fence and asked them if they could please turn down their music because it was really disturbing and loud.
I happened to be outside getting the mail when all of this transpired, and I couldn't believe the series of events that took lace next.
First, the loud neighbor ignored the other neighbor who had kindly asked them to turn the music down.
Shocked at their blatant disregard for his feelings, my one neighbor again asked if they could turn down the music.
Suddenly, in response to this second request, some choice words were exchanged between my one neighbor who was outside washing her car and the other neighbor who had kindly asked for the music turned down.
In the blink of an eye, they were now both yelling at each other when the one neighbor took her water hose and sprayed the other neighbor in the face.
Rather than have it escalate any more, the other neighbor disappeared inside of his house and within minutes, two police cars arrived at their properties.
In the end, the police officers placated my loud neighbor and told her to turn the music down.
They then, also informed her that there was a law that did not permit loud music in the town after 9 p.
m.
However, she was permitted to play her music "at a reasonable level" until that time.
Well, you could bet your bottom dollar that our neighbor rode a fine line all summer long between blasting her music during the day and then turning it down after 9 p.
m.
I never thought that I would have gotten to witness two adults fighting like that over something so mundane, and I certainly didn't expect to see my neighbor get sprayed with a garden hose simply for asking someone to turn their music down a little.
