- Steroid use can cause serious side effects, but with Nasacort, most side effects are limited to the nose and throat. Nasacort side effects rarely are serious unless people use too much of the medication.
- In clinical studies with Nasacort, the most common side effects included sore throat, nosebleeds, and coughing. Between 2 and 5 percent of participants experienced these effects.
- Other possible side effects include nose dryness, burning, irritation or stinging. Some people sneeze more after using Nasacort. Altered taste, headaches, lightheadedness, nausea and throat irritation also are possible.
- When people use Nasacort on a long-term basis or too frequently, steroid toxicity side effects can occur. These include acne, frequent infections, frequent nosebleeds, wheezing, changes in menstruation and weight gain in the abdomen, face, neck or upper back.
- Rarely, some people have an allergic reaction to Nasacort. Signs include rash or hives and facial or mouth swelling.
