Learning to Knit a Kippah

    • 1). Cast on 120 stitches and join them in a round. Be very careful not to twist your round. If you are making a kippah for a small child or a large adult, you may add or decrease the stitches for a smaller or larger result.

    • 2). Begin your decreasing rounds. In the first two rows, knit eight (K8), then knit two stitches together (K2tog). Continue this pattern for two rows, using a stitch marker or pin to mark your starting point. From there, knit seven, then knit two together (K7, K3tog). Complete two rows.

    • 3). Continue to knit rows in this fashion, decreasing the number of "knits" with every two rows. You will be close to the center point of your kippah as you run out of "knits". At that point, continue to knit two stitches together until you reach the center.

    • 4). Cut your yarn, thread your embroidery needle, and weave all loose ends and remaining loops together.

    • 5). Weave the tail into the body of the kippah.
