Masks

• Second-grade students can create interesting masks using colored construction paper. Students should choose the paper in the color they like and fold it in half. Folding the paper in half will provide symmetry to the face as it is being painted on. The students can begin painting on the face of the mask, placing an eye on each side of the paper and the nose and mouth extending from one side to another. Students can continue by decorating the mask with shells, feathers or beads.
  
  

Season Cubes

• The season cube is an enjoyable art project that helps second-grade students learn about the four seasons. Students should cut pieces of paper into six small squares, four of which will represent the four seasons. The students can now draw a picture of each season on a separate square. There should be two extra squares, on which the students can draw their favorite season or picture. The students can now use glue to put the cube together by gluing each square to one another. The season cube will have a 3D effect once it's completed.
  
  

City Collage

• Students learn the difference between a landscape and a cityscape by creating a city collage. Students can use any colored construction paper as the base. They will continue by cutting construction paper into long rectangular pieces, which will represent buildings. The buildings can range from tall to short. Students can use glue to attach the buildings to the base. With this art project, students are encouraged to make their city collage unique.
  
  

Clay Dinosaurs

• This art project allows second-grade students to create dinosaurs out of clay and place them in a kiln to dry. The teacher should give his students pictures of dinosaurs so they can choose the one they want to create. Once they have made their choice, a small amount of clay should be given to them. The students can create a clay replica by studying the photo of their dinosaur. The completed clay dinosaurs should be placed in a kiln. Once the items are dry, the students can paint them with their favorite color. After painting, the clay dinosaurs can be glazed with the help of the teacher.
