  Autumn is a favorite season for many, due to the colorful leaves and harvest decor that is available. Decorating your door in a funny manner will give your guests a bit of levity when they visit your home. Creating a funny idea does not have to be difficult or require you to have artistic talent; just use your imagination and some basic craft supplies.
  
  

Gourd Wreath

• Use a basic grapevine wreath to support a colorful gourd that you have carved with a big toothy grin. This simple wreath will bring a smile to guests' faces when they arrive at your home. Place the gourd on a nest of oat or wheat straw, which is situated on the bottom portion of the wreath. Use florist wire or a hot glue gun to attach the straw and gourd to the wreath.
  
  

Amusing Door Sign

• You can thread colorful squares of cardboard onto twine and secure each end to your front door. Write an amusing saying on the squares, such as "Happy Fall Y'all," or "Please stop here, Great Pumpkin." Alternately, you can paint a funny saying on a square plaque or a piece of plywood and hang it with a ribbon.
  
  

Straw Hat Scarecrow

• Making a funny scarecrow to mount on your door can be excellent decor during the autumn months. Use two old straw hats, one needs to be 12 inches in diameter and the other 16 inches. Cut the 12-inch straw hat in half with sharp scissors. Glue raffia to the upper crown portion of the larger hat, with a hot glue gun or tacky glue, for hair. Place the cut smaller hat on top of the raffia to form the scarecrow's hat and glue it into place. Cut the eyes, nose and mouth shapes out of colorful felt. Glue them on top of the crown of the larger straw hat. Alternately, you can use a black pipe cleaner to form an amusing mouth. Place a ribbon under the crown of the larger hat to act as a bow tie for the scarecrow. Hang the scarecrow decoration on your door with a wreath hanger and a ribbon loop glued to the back of the hat.
  
  

Pumpkin Patch Family

• Construct a square or rectangle piece of wood to use as a door plaque. Paint "Welcome to Our Patch," on the sign. Paint decorative wooden flat pumpkins orange and glue them onto the front of the sign with the names of your family written on them in permanent marker. You can find the flat pumpkin shapes and wooden plaque at hobby and craft or discount stores.
