Horse Training Methods - Techniques to Make Your Horse Obedient

Learning some horse training methods is useful in training your horse to be an obedient one and one that you can easily ride on.
Of course, a calm and responsive horse is an ideal buddy, and it is often a result of good horse training plus patience.
You have probably wished you want to communicate with your horse and tell him what to do, but because you can't, training him with the use of commands and body language is necessary so you can eventually make your horse do what you want.
Here are among the most common techniques in horse training.
Clicker training Clicker training is one of the horse training methods that you can use to make your horse do anything possible.
This training technique makes use of a clicker which you can readily buy in a pet store.
You will also need to have treats as rewards for every command or skill that your horse will learn.
Clicker training has been used in training marine animals but has now been used in horse training as well.
This type of training makes use of positive reinforcement and is beneficial to the animal without hurting him or whipping him to follow what you want him to do.
This training method usually starts by introducing to your horse that a 'click' means a treat.
By clicking and giving him treats afterwards, you can train him to learn to listen and execute.
You can start with small skills and simple commands but make sure you do give him his treat or his reward every time he does a good job.
It is also important to hold your training session in short periods of time to make your clicker training effective.
Make sure also to reward the good behavior only.
Avoid having the mistake of rewarding bad behavior as this may become harder to break.
Longeing Longeing is also one of the horse training methods that are widely used.
This involves the use of a longe line which you can hold at a distance from the horse.
The longe line is a rope fastened to the head of the horse while the trainer can teach him to listen to commands and allow the horse to move around the circle.
This is usually done in a large circle where you can stand in the middle.
Longeing is a good technique to train your horse to listen to voice commands especially if you are training a young horse that is still not used to it.
It will also help the animal 'read' body language from the trainer and eventually learn how to respond to it.
This method can also be used if the horse cannot be ridden or if you want him to develop more balance and rhythm as well as improving his gait.
You may have to consider introducing also other equipment used during longeing to make your horse training as easy as possible.
Star with these two horse training methods and you and your horse will eventually benefit from a good training method.
