- 1). Soak some soft cloths in a degreasing cleaner. Wipe the outside of the exhaust pipes to eliminate the dust, dirt and grease that has accumulated on them. Clean as much of the inside as you can reach. Rinse the pipes with water and allow to air dry. If you're worried about spotting, dry with clean lint-free soft cloths.
- 2). Spread a small amount of ceramic cleaner on the pipe. Use a soft lint-free cloth to buff the exhaust pipe with the cleaner. This will return the shine to the exhaust pipe. However, in extreme cases this gentle polishing may not be enough to restore the exhaust pipe to its original state. Rocks may have dented the surface of the ceramic exhaust pipe, causing blemishes on the surface that you will need to buff and polish out.
- 3). Wet the sandpaper. Gently buff out any dings, dents, oil burns or water deposits on the exhaust pipe. Clean the pipe after sanding with a degreasing cleanser. Rinse with water.
- 4). Attach a soft buffing wheel to the buffer. A firm wheel could buff the ceramic coating right off of the pipes. Apply a small amount of polishing compound to the buffing pad.
- 5). Place the buffer against the ceramic exhaust pipe. Turn on the buffer. Move the buffer slowly over the entire surface of the pipe. Don't linger on one area too long or you may remove the ceramic coating altogether. Wipe the pipe free of residue with a soft cloth to restore the shine.
