Most people have heard some awful horror stories about Cosmetic Surgery.
In fact, many of us have seen some of the terrible results of where things have gone dreadfully wrong either in newspapers or on the television.
There is, however, a new treatment now available that, amongst its many capabilities, can actually help to rectify damage caused by other Cosmetic Surgery procedures.
This new treatment is called Macrolane and it has instant results.
Macrolane can be used on breasts, pectorals, carves and buttocks.
It is capable of restoring volume to areas of the patient's body and it can help to define and contour muscle.
A noticeable improvement in volume can be gained from one single treatment when it is used on breasts or saggy areas of the anatomy.
If a practitioner is using the Macrolane technique to enlarge a woman's breasts then he can increase them by a cup size in one procedure.
In actual fact, the woman is able to check her breasts in the middle of the procedure to see how they look and feel.
If she wants to then she can ask the surgeon to add more volume right there and then.
After about a week of the woman undergoing the procedure her breasts will begin to soften a little and to look and feel very natural.
Unlike silicone implants, Macrolane will also cause no obstructions during Mammograms.
Macrolane uses something called 'N.
A.
S.
H.
A.
' gel.
This stands for 'Stabilised Non-Animal Hyaluronic Acid'.
NASHA gel is actually very natural in its origin.
The gel uses a substance called 'Hyaluronic Acid' or 'H.
A'.
'HA' is an acid that is produced by our bodies to maintain skin turgor.
Macrolane is the first cosmetic treatment available that uses something that is actually produced by our bodies in a natural way.
When a patient undergoes the procedure the NASHA gel is administered to the target area via an injection and the surgeon is then able to literally mould the area into the desired shape.
An initial injection would typically be within the region of 200ml.
After twelve to eighteen months a 'top-up' injection will be required.
This will normally contain around half of the first dose.
The next injection will not be necessary for a little longer than this.
From then on each top-up will then last for a longer period of time.
Each time that the patient has the technique performed on them they will require only a local anaesthetic.
Since 2002 there have been ongoing trials on the Macrolane procedure and no adverse effects have yet come to light.
The treatment is widely used all around the world in over seventy countries and it has received some very good reports in the press.
Over nine million people have had the treatment at present.
It is a very appealing procedure to anyone wanting Cosmetic Surgery because it is 'minimally invasive' and also because it only requires a local anesthetic.
The recovery time is only a matter of a few days and there is little or no risk of any scarring.
