- Make more than a few pennies with a few simple ideas.money, money, money image by easaab from Fotolia.com
Making extra money often involves working overtime or taking on a second job. While those ideas might work for some, they won't work for those who already have a full-time job or those with personal obligations. You may want to make some extra cash for the holidays or to pay for a family vacation, but want something that isn't boring or too similar to what you already do. In that case, you want to find innovative and unusual ways to make extra money. - Sell advertising space to local shops, businesses and corporations. One way is by selling advertising space on your vehicle, usually in the form of a magnetic sticker or sign placed on the door or hood of your car. Some companies may prefer a more permanent form of advertising, such as a painted sign on the car. The company pays a small fee and in return, gets mobile advertising. If you live in a larger city where cars aren't popular or you don't have a vehicle, then offer advertising space on your person. Volunteer to wear the company's logo on a T-shirt and pass out free pamphlets or information about the company for a small fee.
- Get rid of the extra junk in your house by holding a yard sale. Advertise your sale in the local newspaper and with signs placed around the neighborhood. Ask friends and family members to get involved by donating items they no longer need. List a few of the bigger items or the items you have a lot of, such as clothing for kids or exercise equipment. PT Money suggests buying bottled water by the case, which has a small cost per unit. Sell cold bottled water and soda, as well as items you make yourself, including fruit punch, lemonade and other drinks. If you're good at baking, make baked goods and sell those by the piece, such as brownies, cookies and cupcakes.
- Get extra money in your pocket by selling parts of your body. Search online for companies willing to pay money for things like hair, sperm and eggs. For reproductive parts, especially eggs, you need to go through a screening process that includes a physical examination and mental health exam, as well as emotional counseling to ensure you can handle the process. It's possible to make quite a bit of money doing this. As of 2010, some egg donation facilities paid $10,000 and up for viable eggs. Make sure that the company you work with pays for the items and doesn't view them as a simple donation.
