There is something wonderful about sharing the love of a country. A bulletin board is a great way to share patriotism with students. Whether it's statements to help children understand what being patriotic means or pictures and facts of presidents, a bulletin board can help build a patriotic feeling in students that can last a lifetime. - Many young children don't know what it means to be patriotic. A bulletin board is a great way to help them understand. A background of the American flag along with pictures that inspire patriotism could be added to the bulletin board. Then statements could be written that explain patriotism. Even simple words can make a big impact, such as pride and love. This is a simple bulletin board, but it makes such a big statement.
- Children often hear about the founding fathers, but don't know exactly what they did. A simple bulletin board could start with a background of blue or red paper and then pictures of the founding fathers could be added. Under each picture there could be a brief description that explains what each person did to help found the country.
- A great way to help children become more patriotic is to help them understand what it means to be an American. Books that discuss the pilgrims coming to America or the Revolutionary War are a wonderful starting point. A bulletin board could be created that features pictures of book covers and book descriptions that revolve around America and patriotism. The key is to choose books that are interesting for children, such as fiction books based on real history.
- Interactive bulletin boards are a great way to capture the interest of children. A bulletin board that has the title, "What Makes America Great?" could be added to the top and then children could write on the board what they think makes America great. They could even add pictures.
- Young children usually don't know how many presidents there have been, let alone their names. A bulletin board that features pictures of all the presidents, along with a fun fact about each president, can help children not only learn the presidents, but remember them as well. In order to really help children remember, a bulletin board should have off the wall facts that children will find interesting, such as Lincoln having a dog named Fido.
