Paratesticular Leiomyosarcoma
Rare neoplasms can pose special diagnostic and management problems. Paratesticular and testicular tumors usually are firm, nontender masses. Although ultrasonographic examination can give a diagnostic clue, histologic examination following surgery defines the diagnosis. Adjuvant therapy is not recommended at this time.
Neoplasms of the spermatic cord are rare. The incidence of leiomyosarcoma is 0.5% to 1%, with paratesticular leiomyosarcomas being more uncommon. We report a case of a paratesticular neoplasm that is of particular interest because of the tumor's histologic characteristics and its size.
