    Magnesium, Adults

    • According to the Office of Dietary Supplement, adult males age 19 to 30 require 400 mg of magnesium per day, and females in that range require 310 mg a day. Males 31 and up require 420 mg a day, and females in this range require 320 mg a day.

    Magnesium, Children

    • According to the Office of Dietary Supplements, children 1 to 3 years old require 80 mg of magnesium a day, those 4 to 8 years old need 130 mg a day, and those 9 to 13 require 240 mg a day. Boys 14 to 18 years old require 410 mg a day, and girls in this range require 360 mg a day.

    Magnesium, Infants

    • According to the Office of Dietary Supplements, male and female infants have the same daily require of magnesium. Infants up to to 6 months old require 30 mg per day, and infants 7 to 12 months old need 75 mg a day.

    Vitamin D, Adults

    • Men and women age 19 to 50 require 5 mcg of Vitamin D a day, according to the Office of Dietary Supplements. From age 51 to 70, they require 10 mcg a day, and after that they require 15 mcg a day.

    Vitamin D, Children

    • From birth to 18 years old, boys and girls have the same requirements for Vitamin D. According to the Office of Dietary Supplements, it is 5 mcg a day.
