- The 2011 model year Mazda Tribute is a small sport utility vehicle which offers two rows of seating. Mazda offers four trim lines of this vehicle --- i Sport, i Touring, i Grand Touring and the top of the line s Grand Touring --- which offer differing engine, transmission and equipment choices. It offers room for five people and available all-wheel drive, making it a vehicle with great appeal.
- The 2011 Tribute offers 40.4 inches of headroom in the front and 39.2 inches in the rear, although moonroof equipped vehicles will lose 1.2 and 1.7 inches of headroom from the front and rear, respectively. Front seat passengers also enjoy 56.6 and 53.1 inches of shoulder and hip room, compared to 55.9 and 49.1 in the rear. Legroom for all passengers is quite commodious, with 41.6 inches in the front and 35.6 in the back seat. The Tribute also has room for luggage with 31.4 cubic feet of cargo space without folding down the rear seat.
- A smaller SUV, the Tribute measures only 174.9 inches in length and rides on a 103.1 inch wheelbase. It is 67.9 inches tall, without its roof rack, and, even at this reasonable height, still manages to offer over 8 inches of ground clearance. The vehicle's generous hip and shoulder room are made possible by its 71.1 inch width.
- Mazda offers two different engines in the Tribute --- a 2.5-liter four-cylinder motor and a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. Both engines feature fuel injection, double overhead cams and four valves per cylinder with variable timing. The four-cylinder engine generates 171 horsepower and 171 foot-pounds of torque while the larger engine generates 240 horsepower and 223 ft-lb of torque. Mazda offers a five-speed manual transmission with the four-cylinder engine only and offers a six-speed automatic with all six cylinder Tributes and with four-cylinder trucks that do not have the manual. Tributes with the automatic transmission can also be equipped with four-wheel drive.
- The Tribute's fuel economy varies based on the engine, transmission and number of wheels driven. The most efficient Tribute has a four-cylinder engine, manual transmission and front-wheel drive: it achieves 23 miles per gallon in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The least efficient has a six-cylinder engine, automatic transmission and four-wheel drive and achieves city and highway ratings of 18 and 23 mpg.
- The Tribute comes with 16-inch diameter wheels that carry P235/70R16 tires. Mazda also builds the vehicle with a four-wheel anti-lock braking system which uses 11.9-inch disc brakes in the front and 10-inch drum brakes in the rear.
- A rack and pinion electrically assisted steering system gives the Tribute a 36.7-foot turning radius. Its four-wheel independent suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars both support good handling and lets the Tribute manage uneven conditions both on the road and off the road.
