Perhaps one basic element of our lives that we would like to keep is our health. Health is wealth as the cliché goes. But isn't true? Most specially in our present economy in which cost of hospitalization and medicines are unbelievably high.

Parents most specifically mom's are very animate about their children's health and total well being. This is mostly true because parents are now more insightful of the state of our environment. Parents are aware that their children are more predisposed to diseases because of their inability to combat common and rare illnesses.

Habit

Since they are still young you can actually start a very healthy pattern that your children will surely appreciate all throughout their lives. Health doesn't have to always mean eating the acceptable food (but it is actually one of the most important aspects) but doing the right things to stay fit and strong. Let's list down the things that your children can make a habit of. Just keep in mind to encourage them all the time.

Bathing – make sure that in the first years you'll be able to supervise your children while taking bath. Make sure that their ears are washed particularly behind the ear, their feet are scrubbed and their hair is properly cleaned.

Brushing teeth – instruct your children how to brush their teeth properly. There's a right way to do it and you can always look for videos online and watch it together. Most kids do not want to brush their teeth for some reasons but we have to try it definitely.

General Sanitation – it is very displeasing to see children who just lack the basic knowledge about hygiene. Parents should teach their children how and when to wash their hands. A lot of diseases are passed on through the hands. That is why it very important to keep them clean all the time. Parents should also constantly remind their children not to sneeze of cough without properly covering their nose and mouth.

Exercise and sports – encourage your kids to exercise regularly even if its just clear-cut stretching, light jogging a lot more. There are videos in the net which you can actually watch and follow. See to it that your kids join a sport activity that really appeals to him.

Greens – do not worry if your children will not love veggies right now. But with proper persuasion technique your kids will love it. Do not be afraid if your kids don't like eating veggies. Worry if you, at their young age, can't persuade or influence them to eat their peas. Take extra effort to prepare their veggies in nice and colorful ways. Watch videos or read exciting recipes that your kids will surely love.

No Preservatives please

One major reason kids' health is slowly deteriorating is because of a lot of preservatives in the food today. We are now living in the fast food age. According to medical research and studies fast foods are loaded with transfat and calories.

There are so many ways you can be sure that your child gets as little preservatives as possible. One way is to prepare his school lunch yourself. Give him fruits, fresh fruit juice, sandwiches and if you have the time to do it, cookies and muffins that you prepared yourself.

Vitamins and supplements

And because we do not really get all the nutrients that we need by just eating it is best to give your kids vitamins and supplements. This will ensure that the RDA or the recommended daily allowance the body needs to grow healthy is met. There so many vitamins for kids out there. Just make sure you check with your child's doctor what is best suited for kids and the daily dose. There are also energy drinks for kids that are either natural or with antioxidants that will help boost your child's immune system.

You child's health will entirely depend on how you properly guide them to a healthy future. You are you're child's parents. You should be the first line of convince and you have the final say in everything about your child. Raise them healthy and not "chips" addicts. Let us always protect our kids in all aspects of their lives.
