    • The 1996 Jeep Cherokee is available in multiple versions, including the Country. The Cherokee Country comes in both two- and four-wheel-drive versions.     • Both of the Cherokee Country versions have a 4.0-liter, inline-six engine that produces 190 horsepower and come standard with a four-speed automatic overdrive transmission. The engine produces 235 pounds-feet of torque at 3,200 rpm, or revolutions per minute. The engine also has a compression ratio of 8.8 to one and a bore and stroke of 3.88 and 3.41, respectively.

    Fuel

    • Both versions have a 20.2-gallon tank and use unleaded fuel. The two-wheel-drive version gets 15 mpg, or miles per gallon, in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. The four-wheel-drive model gets 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.

    Safety

    • Both the two- and four-wheel-drive Cherokee Country versions feature driver airbags.
