What Would You Bid on the BYD E6?

BYD Auto is a Chinese car manufacturer which began production in 2003, along with their rechargeable-battery manufacturing branch.
Since then, they've slowly gained attention in the spotlight for producing reliable cars and perfecting their own technologies.
Today we're going to talk about the BYD E6, a fully-electric crossover car that is quite popular around the world.
This electric car was in developing ever since 2009, but testing only began in 2010, when forty BYD E6s were used as taxis in Shenzhen, the city where the company's headquarters are.
The cars were released for mass purchase over a year later, in October 2011, but the launch was already two years later than the company had hoped.
Since then, over 2,000 cars were sold in China alone, but when you look at their accomplishments you will understand why.
The BYD E6 would have surely sold in more units, but the manufacturers delayed releasing it in the United States and, evidently, in other parts of the world.
Until perhaps the end of the year, eager buyers will have to wait for the BYD E6 to reach them, or at least go to Shenzhen and purchase one there.
What is definitely to be expected though is that the BYD E6 will be sold with a rapidity never seen before since the renaissance of electrical cars, especially if the manufacturers keep their promise of selling it at only $35,000 US.
Moreover, the BYD E6 has an impressive autonomy range of 300 kilometers, or 186 miles.
This range will vary though, on how the car is used, because further testing revealed by the manufacturers declared it fluctuates depending on whether the air conditioning is on, on road conditions and so on.
This electric car will probably be fitted with a 48 kWh battery pack and, if statistics are maintained, will reach 60 mph in less than 14 seconds, with the maximum speed being somewhere around 87 mph or 140 km/h.
Again, if we're to consider preliminary testing and the information released so far, the BYD E6 consumes about 21.
5 kWh for every 100 kilometers.
As far as production for the US is concerned, BYD Auto stated that Americans proved to be in favor of more power, which is why the cars manufactured for them will have a 60 kWh battery pack instead, and a 160 kWh motor.
This version is supposed to reach 60 mph in about 8 seconds.
Like we mentioned, the E6 is powered by a "Fe" lithium ion phosphate battery, manufactured by BYD Auto themselves.
This battery pack is developed by the other branch of the Chinese manufacturer and it is made from chemical substances which can be recycled, a great advantage in the eyes of many.
This all-wheel drive electrical car is sure to attract attention when it reaches Occidental shores, but the wait is still long.
Nevertheless, it will certainly find lots of buyers in this part of the world as well, just like it did in its native country.
