- 1). Open Microsoft Paint by opening your "Start" menu and then typing "Paint" into the search box. Click the Paint icon to launch the program.
- 2). Click "File" at the top of the window and then click "Open." Browse to the image that you would like to add text to in the file browser and then click "Open." If you are creating a new image, skip this step.
- 3). Click the "A" icon in the Paint toolbar.
- 4). Set the background to be transparent by clicking the bottom blue, red and green image, located below the toolbar.
- 5). Click and drag on the canvas to create a text box. A box will appear and will follow the mouse. When the text box is the desired size, release the mouse button.
- 6). Enter your text into the text box. Use the text toolbar to adjust the font and size of you font.
