- 1). Watch your bull terrier when he is in the house. If it seems he is sniffing around or looking for a place to go, take him outside, to the area you want to him to use as a bathroom.
- 2). Take your bull terrier outside after you feed him his meals. Dogs often need to go to the bathroom only 15 or 20 minutes after they eat, so be sure you are ready to take the dog out soon after feeding.
- 3). Take your bull terrier outside after all large snacks.
- 4). Take the bull terrier out whenever he wakes up from a nap. You should also take him out after he gets up in the morning, before bed and if he cries at night. If you can keep your dog from going to the bathroom in the house, he will learn the habit of only going outside, and potty training will be much quicker.
- 5). Place the bull terrier on the specific material you want him to go to the bathroom on when you take him outside. For example, if you want him to go on a patch of grass, only place him on grass, never on pavement. Dogs often learn where to go to the bathroom by what the area around them feels like.
- 6). Say a command word, such as "potty" when you take your dog outside. Repeating this word when your dog goes to the bathroom will teach him that this word means that it is time to go to the bathroom.
- 7). Wait for your dog to go to the bathroom. Be patient. Repeat the command word you are using for bathroom time.
- 8). Praise your dog when he goes to the bathroom in the correct place.
- 9). Maintain a schedule. If your dog eats, sleeps and wakes at the same time, it will be easier for him to control his bathroom urges.

Ignore your dog if he does go to the bathroom in the house. This effectively tells him he has been bad. You can say "no," but don't yell at the dog. Thoroughly clean the area where the dog had the accident. If the dog can smell the accident, he may use that spot to go to the bathroom again. - 11
Take the dog outside after he has had an accident in the house. Repeat the usual potty routine, saying the command and praising the dog when he does as you have asked.
