The KD Smart Chair was designed to overcome the limitations of a powered scooter, while keeping the positive aspects. It's battery-powered, and has a "joystick" control for near-effortless maneuverability. 

Where it differs from the scooter though is that it folds quickly and compactly. It's designed to fit in a small car. No need to take on the added expense of buying a big van if you don't already have one.
