Part 2 Acupuncture oVery exotic word isn't it? oWhere did it come from? oWhat does it mean? oWhy do you need to know about it? oWhat are the benefits for you? Acupuncture is a very old Chinese science, which was practiced successfully and very popularly some 10000 years ago.
During that time, many of the ancient civilizations were practicing this type of healing as one of the main medicine practices.
Acupuncture became popular in the US in the early '70s.
Over thousands of years the Chinese have used acupuncture for a variety of health ailments.
For many years, long before any one of us came to existence, acupuncture was used as a health remedy for a variety of ailments.
According to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), which is based on the concept that there is a continuous flow of energy (Chi, or Qi in some books) that moves in the human body, illness is caused when Chi does not flow properly throughout the body.
This network is continuously "communicating" with the rest of the body keeping all the functions in complete harmony.
In this way, the nervous, digestive, muscular, etc systems all coordinate with each other through these network points.
Acupuncturists determine whether Chi is weak, stagnant or otherwise out of balance, which indicates the points to be stimulated.
Stimulating these network points actually promotes healing of the body in the most natural manner.
It has been proved and documented throughout the history of science that acupuncture has really benefited mankind far more than all the medicine practices put together.
With traditional acupuncture, needles are inserted on specific points along the body.
The insertion of these needles stimulate vital points that are found throughout the entire body.
Any good text on natural medicine and acupuncture can give you detailed analysis of vital points and what the benefits /therapeutic effects it will give when stimulated.
One of the benefits of acupuncture is pain relief.

Acupuncture is a great way for those who suffer disabling and chronic diseases or ailments, to finally get some pain relief.
Acupuncture has been regarded as a fast acting pain relief mechanism that has a long lasting effect.

There are many benefits involved with using acupuncture as opposed to other pain relief methods.
Possibly the most popular benefit is that it is drug free.
Acupuncture does not carry the side effects that some pain killers have, such as drowsiness.
Furthermore, it is much safer than other methods as you will not have to worry about being aware of your surroundings or an overdose.
