Homesickness is when you miss home, parents, siblings and your home country.
In order to cope with homesickness, you have got to understand the situation and allow yourself to let go.
Try to do other things that will cheer you up such as making new friends, watching TV or even listening to some music.
If you are missing someone back at your home country, you should call them or write e-mails during your free time.
Join other students during activities and always keep an open mind to new things that you can involve yourself in.
Avoid isolating yourself since this will not bear any fruits and will only make your problem worse.
If you incur any problem, do not keep it to yourself but instead try to discuss it with your closest friend and try to come up with a solution.
Be patient and try to enjoy each new day in the new country.
Reflect your mind and think about the opportunity in your hands.
With this in mind, study hard to achieve your goals and to make your people and your country proud.
Maintain a positive attitude by being proud of yourself and your achievements.
Make the new place your own home since this the only way that you will be able to feel comfortable and more at home.
You should also write about your experiences in a notebook which you will share with your parents and friends back at home.
This way you will not only keep yourself busy but it will also help you understand your experiences and adventures much better.
You can also teach the other students about your culture and let them teach you theirs too.
This will be exciting to you all because you will all learn new things.
For example, you can try to cook food from your country and let the other students do the same.
Take familiar things with for instance your best pet or a picture of your best friend to make you feel better once you feel lonely.
Do not let loneliness occupy your time but instead try to read an interesting story book or even go out for a walk.
Communicate with other new students and know where they come from and learn to appreciate every student in your new institution or college.
The people at the new country become your new people.
Appreciate them and always follow the laws and regulations of the new country to avoid being on the wrong side of the law.
Sometimes you might end up working in the new country and showing respect to the local people will make your experience more enjoyable.
Your future will greatly depend with your performance therefore aim high and pass your exams in order to keep your parents happy.
Always encourage other students and assist them when in need.
Be a good example to other students and you will enjoy your stay.
