- Taking oxycodone should relieve patients of most or all of their pain. The side effects associated with this drug are: constipation, confusion, dizziness, light-headedness, sedation, dryness of the mouth, respiratory depression, headaches and nausea.
- Medical professionals often prescribe oxycodone to people who have just experienced child birth; those experiencing cancer-related pain, bone fractures and dislocation, severe injuries, back pain and severe arthritis.
- Slow breathing, seizures, loss of consciousness, coma, cold skin, confusion, small pupils and severe dizziness can occur if a person takes too much of this drug at one time. To prevent severe problems, seek medical attention immediately if an overdose occurs.
- If you doctor prescribes oxycodone, swallow the tablets with a glass of water. The tablets are time-released, so do not break, crush or chew them. Rapid release of this medication can cause death.
- Before taking oxycodone; tell your doctor if you are pregnant, nursing, or have seizures, low blood pressure, gallbladder disease, adrenal gland disorders, urination problems, prostate problems, mental illness or a history of drug addiction.
