- The Chevrolet Tracker is a lightweight SUV that was produced from 1998 to 2004. From 1989 to 1997, the vehicles were branded as Geo Trackers. The Tracker was built on a light-truck chassis, which made it more rugged than some of the other lightweight SUVs on the market. It was powered by a light-truck engine and a four-wheel drive drivetrain.
- Over its production life, the Chevrolet Tracker came equipped with two different engines. The 1998 to 2001 models had a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine. In 2002, the engine was changed to a 2.5-liter, six-cylinder version.
- Buyers had the choice of two different body styles with the Tracker. It was produced as a two-door model with a soft, removable convertible top over the rear seats, or as a four-door hardtop model.
- Front airbags and adjustable height seat belts were standard equipment.
- The Tracker came equipped with a trailer towing preparation package, and upon installing a hitch, drivers could tow a maximum of 1,500 lbs.
- Fuel economy figures varied depending on the Chevrolet Tracker's model year. A 1998 model got 22 miles per gallon in city driving and 26 miles per gallon on highway while the 2001 and 2002 models only got 18 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. The Tracker had a 17-gallon fuel tank.
