- 1). Use a flat scrap block as the body of the car. A good size for the block is about 2-inches thick, 2-inches wide, and at least 6-inches long. If you have a bigger, thicker, or wider scrap block, cut it to size with a miter saw.
- 2). Draw a line across one of the 2-inch by 6-inch faces of the block, about one-half inch from the 6-inch edge.
- 3). Draw a line perpendicular to the first, two inches from one of the 2-inch edges.
- 4). Cut along the lines with the miter saw, but be careful not to cut past the intersection of the two. This will create the hood and front windshield of the model car.
- 5). Drill a hole about two inches from either 2-inch edge of the wooden block. The holes should be no closer than one eighth of an inch from the bottom and no thicker than one-quarter inch.
- 6). Insert a 3-inch metal rod through each of the holes. These will be the axles of the car. The rods should be no more than 1/4-inch in diameter.
- 7). Draw four circles onto a scrap wooden board. each circle should be tow inches in diameter.
- 8). Cut each of the circles out of the board using a jig saw. Drill a 1/4-inch hole into the center of each circle cut out. Attach the circle cutouts onto the axles of the car.
- 9). Smooth the surface of the car using sandpaper and then paint the car using spray paint.
