- For the 2004 model year, the Chevrolet division of General Motors introduced the Colorado, a mid-size pickup truck. The 2005 Colorado is thus the vehicle's second model year. Although several of its versions--determined by trim, rear-wheel (2WD) or four-wheel (4WD) drivetrain, and bed and cab size--have 2.8-liter engines, two versions of the truck have 3.5-liter engines instead. They are the LS Z71 Crew Cab and the LS ZQ8 Crew Cab.
- The 3.5-liter engine of the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado is designed as an inline five-cylinder one, and it has a 20-valve DOHC (double overhead camshaft) configuration. It produces 220 horsepower at 5,600 revolutions per minute (rpm) and 225 pounds-feet of torque at 2,800 rpm. It also has a 3,460-cubic centimeter displacement, a 3.66-by-4-inch bore and stroke, and a 10-to-1 compression ratio. The 3.5-liter engine uses a sequential electronic fuel injection system. Unlike the other trim combinations, which have a standard five-speed manual transmission, the 2005 Colorado 3.5 has a four-speed automatic.
- Possessing a 19-gallon gas tank, the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado 3.5 gets a fuel economy of 17 miles per gallon (mpg) for city driving and 22 mpg for highway driving with 4WD. The 2WD trucks are more fuel efficient: 18 mpg for city driving and 24 mpg for highway driving. The maximum towing capacity is 4,000 lbs.
- The 2005 Chevrolet Colorado 3.5 comes as a five- or six-seat vehicle. Front space consists of 39.6 inches of headroom, 42.2 inches of legroom and 53.3 inches of hip room. Rear space provides 38.3 inches of headroom, 34.8 inches of legroom and 52.9 inches of hip room. Both front and rear space offer 57.1 inches of shoulder room.
- The 2005 Colorado 3.5, designed as a four-door truck, is 207.1 inches long, 67.6 inches wide and 65.2 inches high. While all '05 Colorado 3.5 trucks share the same 57.5-inch rear track (distance between the center of the left rear wheel and the center of the right rear wheel), the front track (the distance between the center of the left front wheel and the center of the right front wheel) is 59.6 inches for the 4WD trucks and 57.5 inches for the 2WD trucks. Also, the curb weight is 4,062 lbs. for the 4WD trucks and 3,783 lbs. for the 2WD trucks.
