- The EX models are the only ones that comes with anti-lock brakes, though the 2000 Civic EX is also available without them. All models come with rack and pinion steering. For extra help in braking, all models but the Si have 185/65R14 model tires. The Si models have 195/55R15 model tires.
- The Civic models also have power door locks and windows, with the exception of the DX and hatchback trim levels. All models have driver and passenger airbags for increased safety in crashes.
- All of the 1999 and 2000 models feature a 1.6L inline-four cylinder engine. Horsepower ranges from 106 to 160, depending on the trim model. The DX models have the least horsepower, while the Si models have the most. A five-speed manual overdrive transmission is standard, though automatic and continuously variable transmissions are also available.
