Conclusion
The ProVent 14 mortality prediction model has good discrimination and calibration for 1-year mortality in patients who require mechanical ventilation for at least 14 days. This simple prognostic model can support clinical judgment of prognosis and can inform clinical decision aids to facilitate discussions of goals of care in the setting of PMV, where long-term outcomes are patient specific and often not immediately evident.
