Installing WordPress
WordPress is well known for its simple way in installation and takes less than five minutes to complete. There are tools provided by web hosts (e.g. Fantastico) which automatically install WordPress. The following guide will help you to install WordPress yourself. Upgrading is now easier using Automatic Upgrade.
Do Before Installing WordPress
Access to your site, its directory and then the software to proceed with the installation. These are:
§ Access to your web server through shell or FTP
§ A text editor
§ An FTP Client
§ Your web browser of choice
Before starting the installation you have to do the following.:
1. Checking whether your web host have the minimum requirements to run WordPress.
2. Download the latest release of WordPress V3.3.1.
3. Unzip the downloaded file to a folder on your hard disk.
4. Get ready with a secure password for your Secret Key
5. You can take a Print of this page out so you have it handy during the installation.

Upgrading Your Wordpress
If you are upgrading your WordPress, please read the following:
Please, remember to backup your database, and your WordPress files, before attempting the upgrade.
Detailed Instructions
1. Backup your database.
2. Backup ALL your WordPress files in your WordPress directory including your .htaccess file.
3. Verify the backups created are usable.
4. Deactivate ALL your Plugins.
5. Attempt the upgrade after completing the above 4 steps.
6. Download and then extract the WordPress package fromhttp://wordpress.org/download/.
7. You have to Delete the old WordPress files on your site, but DO NOT DELETE
a) wp-config.php file;
b) Wp-content folder; Special Exception: the wp-content/cacheand the wp-content/plugins/widgets folders should be deleted.
c) wp-images folder;
d) wp-includes/languages/ folder—do not delete if you are using a language file.htaccess file—do not delete if you have added custom rules to your .htaccess,
e) robots.txt file--if your blog is situated in the root of your site (ie. the blog is the site) and you have created such a file, do not delete it.
8. Upload the new files from your computer's hard drive to the WordPress folder on your site.
9. Run the WordPress upgrade program then follow the instructions on the screen.
10. Update Permalinks and .htaccess, merge the custom rules, to your.htaccess file.
11. Install updated Plugins and Themes. Please review the list of Plugins compatible with Version 3.3.1. Check for Theme Compatibility and ask your Theme author for any new version.
12. Reactivate Plugins
13. Security key definitions have to be added to the wp-config.php file
14. Now you can Review what has changed in WordPress.
