- The 2005 Ford Focus has a combined fuel economy rating of 23 miles per gallon. It gets 28 mpg on the highway and 20 in the city, and has a 14-gallon fuel tank.
- In the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration five-star safety tests, the Focus two-door model got four stars in the driver front, passenger front, and rear side tests, and three stars in the front side test. The four-door had similar results, but received a five-star score in the driver front test.
- The Focus has a 2-liter, in-line V-4 engine that produces 136 horsepower at 6,000 RPM. It features a multi-point injection fuel system, a 10 compression ratio, an 87.4 mm bore and an 83.1 mm stroke. The Focus generates 132 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 RPM.
