How to Glaze a Crucible

    • 1). Saturate boric acid in alcohol by mixing equal parts boric acid in a container of methyl alcohol until the boric acid is no longer suspended in the alcohol.

    • 2). Apply a coating of the glaze to the interior of the crucible by "painting" it on with a brush.

    • 3). Heat the crucible until the interior gives off a sheen, or glaze. This is "glazing" the crucible and should be done before adding anything to the crucible to be melted.
