- 1). Park your Ninja 500R on its kickstand. Loosen the front brake caliper's mounting bolts on the right fork leg using a 14 mm socket. Loosen the the axle pinch bolt on the bottom of the left fork leg using a 12 mm socket. Loosen the front axle collar, secured in the left fork leg, using an 8 mm Allen wrench.
- 2). Lift the motorcycle onto its center stand, and place a jack below the motor to raise the front wheel off the ground.
- 3). Unscrew the front brake caliper's bolts completely using a 14 mm socket. Slide the brake caliper off the front brake rotor, and suspend it from the handlebars with a bungee cord.
- 4). Unscrew the front axle collar completely from the left fork leg using an 8 mm Allen wrench. Tap the end of the front axle out of the left fork leg with a rubber mallet.
- 5). Hold the front wheel in place with one hand, and pull the front axle out from the right fork leg. Lower the front wheel to the ground, and remove the speedometer drive, spacers and washers from the wheel.
