How Your Home Can Save the World

What exactly is a 'Passive House?' It is a self sustained house which is far more eco friendly than all other forms of housing being used today.
It is a very effective form of the green movement.
The green movement has been basically centered on solar heating panels and eco friendly cleaning supplies, using products like these to help people to reduce their carbon footprint.
But what most people neglect to see is that the average home consumes copious amounts of energy.
Since we spend so much time at home there is a rising need to create an energy efficient home.
A passive home is one such solution.
It is essentially a house that heats and cools itself without using any external energy sources.
The main feature of the passive house is its insulation.
There are many times we notice strong or light drafts entering our houses from under doors and windows.
This is something the passive house has completely eliminated because it is 100% air tight.
This drastically reduces the use of external heating or cooling units.
The house also contains a unique air conditioning system that has fresh air being pumped into the house at all times.
This feature when coupled with the air tight nature of the house will stabilize the internal temperature and sustain it for a longer duration.
The need for cooling units has almost completely been eliminated because the windows and doors have been perfectly placed to improve the ventilation.
Even when the house needs to heated, it is equipped with solar panels that will use the natural energy of the sun to warm the house.
Using the sun's energy to produce electricity reduces the over all consumption of electricity by the house.
The house also contains the heat exuded by the human body as well as appliances like lamps and stoves, keeping the house at a comfortable temperature permanently.
This reduces the dependence on external heating units.
Another great advantage to using a home like this is superior cost efficiency.
Heating and cooling units are the biggest consumers of electricity.
By eliminating the use of these units the house only uses about twenty five percent of the electricity being consumed by an average newly constructed house.
The resultant effect is huge because you end up saving a lot of money which as previously being spent on electricity.
Thus this house proves really beneficial to you and to the environment.
