- Located within the interior portion of the ship (see reference #1), interior cabins are generally the least expensive (see reference #2), however they can also be the smallest and most basic rooms available. When considering an interior cabin, remember that they do not have windows or any natural light source so they can be quite dark when the lights are off (see reference #2).
- Exterior ocean view rooms are located along the outside of the ship (see reference #3). Featuring either a window or a porthole which looks out to the ocean, these rooms give guests a chance to view the ocean without having to go on deck. Rooms with a porthole or a partially obstructed ocean view will be less expensive than rooms with a window (see reference #2).
- Exterior rooms which feature a private balcony will be more expensive than interior rooms or exterior rooms with just a window or porthole. Balcony rooms usually have a sliding glass door leading to a private balcony where you can sit and enjoy the passing scenery from the privacy of your cabin. (see reference #2)
- Suite cabins are usually much larger and more expensive than other cabins (see reference #1). Most cruise lines offer multiple levels of suites ranging from mini-suites to ultimate luxury suites. Suites can feature a vast array of amenities such as separate sitting and dining areas, wet bars, jetted bath tubs and grand balconies.(see reference #2)
