- 1). Apply a bead of wood glue to the long edges of the top sides. Clamp the top sides to the top with the small wood clamps. Clean excess glue off with a soft, damp cloth. Repeat this for the sides and the bottom. Allow to dry at least 3 hours or as suggested by the glue manufacturer.
- 2). Apply a bead of glue on the three edges of the top ends and clamp them in place. Clean excess glue off with a damp, clean cloth. Repeat this for the ends and the bottom.
- 3). Sand the two boxes with the 100 grit sandpaper. Roll over the edges by placing the sand paper in the palm of your hand and allow it to take the sharp edges off the wood. Do not apply too much pressure.
- 4). Check for cracks in the joints and fill them with wood putty to match the wood. Allow the putty to cure and then sand lightly.
- 5). Apply finish with a soft, clean cloth and allow it to dry completely. Apply a thin coat of polyurethane and let it dry. Sand it with 00 steel wool. Apply as many coats as desired, sanding with the steel wool between each coat.
