- 1). Skip on purchasing foil and plastic wrap and reuse glass containers for storing and heating foods instead. The properties of glass containers keep your food safer, as heated plastic leaks unhealthy chemicals into your food. Not using plastic baggies reduces waste and saves money.
- 2). Save plastic shopping bags and use them instead of bubble wrap when sending fragile goods. Similarly, save large pieces of ripped newspaper and wrapping paper. When it is time to send a package, ball up the paper and use it to cushion the item being sent.
- 3). Instead of wrapping gifts in wrapping paper, place them in recycled canvas bags or in a free-trade basket.
- 4). Reuse baggies or other resealable plastic bags to cushion products placed in a large box.
- 5). Ripped and unusable clothes can be wrapped around items to cushion items for shipping or storage.
- 6). Shredded paper, such as junk mail, placed on the bottom of boxes will repel moisture and cushion shipped items.
